There are certain days in the studio when the light feels almost magical—and this recent maternity photography session in Connecticut was exactly that.
It was one of those bright, sunny afternoons where the light poured through the windows of my all-white studio and bounced beautifully around the room. When the sun is that strong, I love to lean into it. Using a few subtle light-bouncing techniques and special effects, I was able to create soft flares and glowing highlights that wrapped around this mama-to-be in the most incredible way. The result? Images that felt warm, luminous, and full of life.
And honestly, she didn’t need much help glowing—she was absolutely radiant all on her own.
One of my favorite parts of photographing maternity sessions is weaving small, personal details into the experience.
This mama shared that her baby boy will have a beautiful Mediterranean name, which immediately sparked an idea for the styling of the session. To subtly honor that inspiration, we incorporated an olive tree and soft touches of green into the set.
Olive branches have such a timeless elegance to them. They added just enough natural texture and symbolism without overpowering the clean, airy aesthetic of the studio.
