When to do maternity photos
As soon as you see a bump. Many photographers might be more specific, but I have photographed pregnant women at all stages of pregnancy and I can tell you t hat it truly doesn't matter when. Just as a newborn is ideally photographed within 2 weeks of birth, but again it doesn't really matter. All moments are worth photographing.
But if you would like the perfect window for a maternity session, I suggest around 30 weeks as a beautiful sweet spot.
Why have a maternity session?
I will be honest with you, I didn't want maternity photos when I was pregnant and not getting them done each time is a big regret. Now that I am a photographer and photograph multiple genres, my absolute favorite is maternity. There is something so uniquely special about this time. It's just as precious as any other moment in your child's life. If I could go back in time not only would I make sure to have a maternity session, I would do it big!
